Possum-eating spider! Photos of a huntsman spider eating a pygmy possums at Mt Field in Tasmania have hit the internet.
The photos were posted to Facebook by the photographer’s wife, Justine Latton. In the photos the spider is clinging on to a hotel door with the tiny possum in its mouth. Justine explained that pygmy possums are “quite common” in the area and that the spider “probably just saw an opportunity and went for it.”
Justine went on to say that the spider and the possum had to be caught and released outside “in order to open the door.”
