Colorado’s snowpack is off the charts! The snowpack in the Gunnison Basin, CO is currently over 50,000% above average. The state of Colorado snowpack as a whole is currently at 761% above normal. As you can see from todays SNOTEL current snow water equivalent % of normal map, Gunnison is snowpack is so high that they can’t event give it a percentage.

Typically there is zero snow on the ground this time of year so the less than 9โ€ณ of snow in the Gunnison Basin is sending the percentages against historic averages into the stratosphere.

The remanent snowpack should be a huge help in quelling the fire season, but all this remaining snow also means that there is a real chance of flooding.
