Riding the liquid giants at Nazaré, Portugal is madness but once you get multiple people trying to catch the same wave and right of way comes into play, accidents like this can happen in the highest of consequence surf settings. Here is the break down of events, you decide who had right of way:

“In this video I’ll break down the series of events that took place during this insane clip! I had this clip in my previous video, and had many people asking WTF happened, so I felt I should break this clip down for you guys.

This was February 7, 2019 with one of the cleanest 60′ swells we’ve seen in the 2019 season! Here you’ll see Ross Clark Jones, with tow partner Axi Muniain, Lourenço Katzenstein with tow partner Ramon Laureano both make an attempt at the same 60 foot wave.

Lourenço and Ramon were lined up earlier on the wave, while Ross and Axi were up and riding closer to the crest face of the wave. From all the Tow Surfers I spoke with, I never got a straight answer to who had the right of way for this wave. I’ll leave that for you guys to decide in the comment section.”
