Thankfully no one was injured in this 1-70 avalanche caught on dash cam Sunday but to hear the account of the incident is frightening. Shaune and Tram Golemon driving home from Copper Mountain on 1-70 with their daughter Sunday when an avalanche swept their truck into the median. Shaun had this to say when he spoke with 9NEWS:

“So much was going through my head at the time. I was checking the rear-view to see if I had room to stop, you know. I was trying to gauge, ‘Can I outrun it?’ And eventually, I told her, I said, ‘There’s nothing we can do. Just hold onto something.

I let off my brakes and then, here it comes. It just blasts us. I just got to drive through a cloud of smoke. It can’t be that bad, right? Then, once we felt it, that’s real fear [that] started to kick in.

As soon as it hit and we felt the force and we felt our truck, you know, literally sliding off the road, that’s when it became really real. It was loud. It was complete white-out. We couldn’t see anything.”

Crazy footage, we’re glad everyone was okay:
