The avalanche that buried skiers at Taos yesterday has ultimately proved fatal as one of the victims died yesterday afternoon, sometime before 5pm while receiving medical attention at the nearby, Holy Cross Hospital.
According to the Taos News, the other buried person was transported to a medical facility in Albuquerque and remains in critical condition. The slide occurred off the recently opened Kachina Peak in a chute known as K3.
We are deeply saddened by yesterday’s events. Our hearts are with the individuals, their family and friends, as well as the larger community that has been affected, including other visitors and our dedicated staff.
