The Aspen Times is reporting that an unidentified skier has died after sustaining injuries while skiing the popular 14’er, Quandry Peak just south of Breckenridge Mountain on Sunday.

Authorities were alerted to the situation at approximately 11:20am, at which point Flight For Life was dispatched to the victim. Once on the scene, medical professionals executed life saving procedures but later pronounced the man dead before transporting his remains to the St Anthony Medical Center in Frisco, CO. The victim had been skiing with one other person at the time.

Quandry Peak is one of the most popular 14’ers in Colorado (14,265 feet above sea level) and as such sees heavy foot traffic in the summer months. In the winter, backcountry skiers and riders flock to the area due to its accessible, high alpine terrain features.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.
