WATCH: B.A.S.E Jump In Switzerland Nearly Fatal But Trees Broke Fall

“I impacted on soft ground right next to rocks which probably had killed me if I had hit them.”

Terrifying sequence from a B.A.S.E. jumper in Lauterbrunnen, Bern, Switzerland after experiencing a tension knot in his gear. Luckily he hit a tree slowing down his out of control spiral descent and landed on soft forested ground.  B.A.S.E. jumping is for keeps, proceed at your own risk:

“I started B.A.S.E. jumping 1 year ago. This was jump number 56. After the opening, I realized that some lines built a tension knot. I was not able to clear it, so the canopy started spinning and the vertical speed increased. Then I hit a tree, which probably saved my life. Unfortunately, the tree didn’t catch the canopy and I started falling again without being slowed down. I impacted on soft ground right next to rocks which probably had killed me if I had hit them.”
