When picturing a member of search and rescue– the stereotype usually goes something like this: a crusty, bearded white guy in his 30’s or 40’s who loves the mountains more than any living person on Earth. It’s not everyday that stereotype gets shattered by two Canadian teens (*17 and 18 years-old) who lack facial hair and seem to not be jaded whatsoever.

Ben Nixon and Josh “JJ” Goodison are prime examples of fine young men and the Fernie Free Press recently sat down with the young lads to find out what makes them so gung-ho at such a young age. The two are definitely making their way in the S&R world and their interview is worth a look.
