On Saturday, the Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council recovered a body they believe to be the 24 year-old snowboarder who went missing back in January.

The Bellingham Herald is reporting that the deceased, Vitaliy Datskiy had ridden into a closed area known as the North Face Cliffs, where he was ultimately discovered.

Some ride partners of Datskiy alerted authorities when he failed to reconnect at the base of Chair 3. An autopsy and identity confirmation is underway today.

*Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s friends and family.
