Maine’s Mount Katahdin hosts over 40 named couloirs and gullies in addition to some of the best backcountry glade skiing in the northwest. And while Tuckerman’s gets the majority of airtime, it’s quite possible that Katahdin hosts more terrain and better skiing than its New Hampshire cousin.
“No trip to Katahdin for normal people is shorter than 3 days. But why would you want to rush your experience on the most beautiful peak in the East? The peak has about 8 cirques and more than 40 distinct skiable gullies and couloirs.” – Treasured Heights
