When you look at this terrain in the German Alps I don’t think many of us would jump to say “Oh that’s an avalanche waiting to happen” but the face ripped out to bare ground and the debris looks like giant cement blocks.
Let this be a reminder that not all avalanche prone areas look the same and that we need to be vigilant in all varieties of terrain and conditions. If you are an avalanche expert we would love to hear your thoughts what might have led to this slide.
