Watkins went missing back on September 14th after going out for a ride on Mount Herman. He wasn’t discovered until the following weekend. According to local police, Watkins was shot and partially buried.

A mechanic at Old Town Bike Shop in Colorado Springs, the victim was a frequent visitor to the area in which he died. However the area in which he was shot has a sketchy reputation that includes illegal shooting of firearms and hard drug use. There was even a recent report of a man harassing hikers and bikers with a hatchet. That man was arrested but as of now, no connection has been made to the murder in question.
