While many will argue as to what is the best groomed run in the world is, the longest is without dispute.
For many, it comes as no surprise that the longest groomer exists in Europe. Located near Grenoble, France at the Alpe d’Huez ski resort, La Sarenne claims the title spot with a massive length and even bigger vertical drop. Known to the French as “La Piste Mythique,” La Sarenne is a must ski for anyone who thinks they can ski 6,560 vertical feet, top-to-bottom.
Not to mention, the famous piste is home to world cup ski racer, Gauthier de Tessières. Tessières credits the run with much of his success in the Olympics and FIS World Cup circuit.
Still, many question the validity of La Sarenne’s “black” rating. Due to its mellower bottom half and a series of flats that can make it unbearably slow, some say the run is closer to a green than a black. That said, any run over 6k’ vert demands respect.
