Just after midnight on Thursday morning, Brandon Jackson climbed 1,600 feet of a 2,000 foot television tower in Metcalf, Georgia before executing what would become his final BASE jump reports WCTV.

Jackson, who served as a Master Sergeant in the US Army, was accompanied by BASE icon and Red Bull athlete Michael Dashier as well as Tom Baker. His companions were in contact with the jumper via radio at the time of the incident. After jumping, Dashier and Baker claimed to have heard Jackson’s parachute deploy but were unable to find him. After searching for over an hour, the two alerted authorities to the incident. After arriving on the scene, authorities proceeded to locate Jackson’s body in some trees near the tower.

He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Since the accident, Dashier and Baker have been arrested and bonded out of jail on charges of criminal trespassing. Other charges could be forthcoming.
