Normally, El Niño years are down years for Alaskan snowfall but not this year. As of today, Alyeska Resort in Girdwood is reporting 704″ on the season with a massive, 194″ base depth!
With an average season snowfall at 650″, Alaska’s premier ski resort is having one hell of a season and there’s at least another month of possible snow on the way.
“What’s that? A 700″ party, you say?! That’s right, with another 10″ in the last 24 hours, we are now sitting at 703″ of total snowfall for the season and still 6 weeks left to go!”– Alyeska Resort Facebook Page (March 7th)
Also, if a heli trip is on the bucket-list, this year might be the one to open up a new credit card and send AK spines to kingdom come. Just worry about the bill later…
