Avalanche safety and news leaders, Colorado Avalanche Information Center, just released some sobering statistics about avalanche deaths for the 2015/2016 season.  There have been 23 avalanche deaths in the US so far this season:

“Typically, about 60% of avalanche fatalities for the winter have occurred by March 1. Projecting forward, 2015-16 could be one of the worst winters for avalanche deaths in recent years. This is a rough estimate, and how the snowpack evolves over the next few months will determine the number of serious avalanche accidents.”

Please lets all work to bring down these numbers through proper education, preparation and execution. Keep it safe out there people. There is no line thats worth not coming home for.
