Up to 6″ of snow is forecasted for the Sierra Nevada of California for today into tomorrow. Snow levels look to be above 9,000-feet for Sunday and Monday.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HANFORD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WATCH…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE SUNDAY
NIGHT FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 9000 FEET.

* HAZARD TYPES…SNOW.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…POSSIBLY UP TO 6 INCH. LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS OVER THE CREST AND UNDER ANY THUNDERSTORMS.

* TIMING…SNOW WILL BEGIN FALLING LATE TONIGHT. HEAVY SNOW
SHOWERS MAY BE POSSIBLE BY MIDDAY SUNDAY AND CONTINUE INTO THE
EVENING.

* IMPACTS…BIGGEST CONCERN WILL BE FOR TRAVELERS GOING INTO THE
BACK-COUNTRY OF THE SIERRA NEVADA. IN ADDITION…THUNDERSTORMS
WILL AFFECT OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA OF CONCERN. BACK
COUNTRY CAMPERS AND HIKERS WILL LIKELY SEE RAPID CHANGES IN THE
WEATHER.
