On Monday, A New York City Jury convicted the One World Trade Center BASE jumpers of multiple misdemeanor crimes. The jump, which they executed back in September of 2013, took the men from the top of the One World Trace Center, over several Manhattan city blocks, ultimately landing on the intersection of Vesey Street and the West Side Highway.
Business Insider is reporting that James Brady, Marko Markovich, and Andrew Rossig were found guilty of “reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment of property and unauthorized climbing, jumping and suspending oneself from a structure.” However, felony burglary charges were thrown out after the defense team stressed that the men never actively entered the tower itself.
GoPro footage of the jump, which was posted to YouTube, is currently at just over 3.5 million views and the three men have largely been considered heroes within the action sports world and beyond.
The men face up to a year of jail time for the top misdemeanor conviction.
