A 13-year-old boy died over the weekend at Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, Massachusetts. The boy, identified as Rajiv Paluri, was skiing with friends on Saturday when he reportedly veering off the slope and hit a tree.
The accident occurred between a blue run and a black diamond run at around 2:20 in the afternoon.
Paluri was evacuated from the mountain by ski patrol and taken to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Nashoba Valley General Manager Al Fletcher said it was the first ski-related fatality at Nashoba Valley.
“All of us are deeply shaken by this incident,” Fletcher said in a statement. “Our hearts are with his family. We can only imagine what they’re going through.”
It has been reported that Paluri was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
