Light snow is likely tonight (3-5) in most of the Sierra  and Powder alerts hoisted for all zones of the mountain ranges in California Tuesday-Thursday.   Deep sub tropical moisture will begin impacting the southern Sierra after midnight on Monday and continue to stream north into the northern Sierra by MiddayTuesday. Sub tropical jet ushers in SW winds and snow levels just above Lake Level (Dense snow great for base building).  Northern zones should easily approach 12-15 inches above 7,500 feet by late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning (Peaks Tuesday PM and evening).  Mammoth may see 8-12 inches at the upper peaks or more.  Abundant moisture will be falling Statewide. Lake level snow will be possible but low elevation accumulations will be light.  Keep reading for storm #2

A second and colder system will favor the central and northern Sierra Wednesday/Thursday. That system will bring lake level snowfall (3-6) and another 12-14 inches at upper elevations by Thursday afternoon (Light snow showers linger).    A third splitting system is likely on Saturday/Sunday!   Someone out there must have been doing the Snow Dance!  Alpine Meadows picked up 10 inches in the past 24 hours and a bit more will be reported on Monday morning.

This week will be a game changer for the Sierra!  Good base building powder especially at   mid and upper mountain levels.

Please keep our powder dreams alive!  All donations are appreciated!
