BLOCKING HIGH PRESSURE IN THE WEST – DECENT STORM LIKLEY IN NEW ENGLAND NEXT WEEKEND
Powderchasers.com
After a 4-5 day stretch of significant snow in the West (2-4 feet in the Cascades and northern Rockies) we are stuck in a blocking high pressure ridge forcing all moisture up over central Canada through the end of January. Here is a look at what Powderchasers has been up to in the past few months!
Models show moisture returning to the Cascades and Rockies in the last few days of January or early February. The Sierra who has seen little snow all season might reap some rewards according to long term models which show systems dropping into California in early February. We don’t put high confidence in 14 day models but my optimistic thoughts are providing you an early “heads up” If the models hold up the Sierra might reap some rewards!
Mount Bohemia in the upper peninsula of Northern Michigan is just 1 inch shy of hitting 200 inches YTD! They should hit that mark this weekend!
New England will see some light to moderate snow closest to the Coast late this weekend and models showing a deep storm possible next weekend! Stay tuned for powder alerts. Check out our new advertiser JANS Mountain Outfitters who provides both outstanding quality and customer service JANS-POWDERCHASERS SPECIALS If you support them it also supports Powderchasers.
I will issue an update once the models show some consistency so let’s hope they hold up for early February powder.
