Six people have been injured following a mechanical failure of a T-bar at the French resort of Tignes.

The resort’s Rosolin T-bar derailed just before noon on Saturday causing the heavy lift cable to come crashing down on skiers and riders making their way up the hill. A French police report stated that one 15-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital following the accident.

A simular incident occurred in 2012 what a snowboard riding outside of the track pulled the cable off the sheave injuring a dozen people.
