A British skier is dead after high winds and bad weather caused him to fall off the north face of the Aiguille du Midi.

The skier and a companion had set off to ski Vallee Blanche but decided to turn around and climb back to the cable car after high winds and poor weather set in. According to local reports, the two skiers were attempting to cross this ridge when the British man fell up to 1,000 metres (3,000 feet) to his death.
