Mr. Kon doing work as a tandem instructor

A 35-year-old Crested Butte man was killed yesterday morning and his instructor was critically injured in a tandem skydiving accident at  the Canon City, CO drop zone. The accident happened at 9 a.m. yesterday morning. The instructor, a 28-year-old, had logged more than 600 solo jumps and 50 tandem jumps, according to The Canon City Daily Record.

According to the statements, after the pair jumped from approximately 8,000 feet, the main and reserve chutes opened at the same time.

Something went wrong in the air and both the main and reserve parachute opened at the same time and became entangled, said Capt. Don Pinover, with the sheriff’s office.

The victim was a bad ass skier and a punk rocker to death. To the people that knew him he was a kind friendly soul who had a great judge of character and a pure addiction to adrenaline like the rest of us. He had been jumping for over two years and will be deeply missed in the CB/Gunnison Valley.
