Today was clear and cold at Whistler Blackcomb. Temps of -13 C up top and no wind. The lower mountain had gotten hard after the high snow levels and a hard freeze, but the alpine powder was holding up splendidly.
Avalanche conditions remained Moderate today:
“Sz 2 storm slabs upto 60cm in depth were reported yesterday. Most of this activity was above 2200m and initiated with explosives. However isolated areas in lee alpine terrain saw skier triggered slabs that ran wide and were below 2200m.” – whistlerblackcomb.com
Many skiers and riders stayed on low angle smallerish terrain. Lakeside bowl was a nice place to start.
Snow conditions today: 6-8 inches of dense, fun powder up high. Hard snow down low.
Tomorrow should be a great day to tour off Blackcomb.
