Wallet looking a little thin after a big Christmas Bash? Well conveniently for you, January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard month, and resorts all across the nation are offering ripping deals to get you out there on the snow. An effort to get more people enjoying the joyous joys of skiing, January is targeted toward new skiers and snowboarders, offering a cheap introduction to the sport we all love. More than 300 locations are participating including 122 that are part of the National Forest System. The initiative encourages children and adults to learn to ski and/or snowboard by getting out to their local hill and taking lessons from professional instructors.

- Sugar Bowl – Buy a ticket, get rentals and a lesson free!
- Squaw/Alpine – January 8th & 29th, Beginner Learn to Ski and Ride program – $39 for a package that includes a 2.5 hour lesson, beginner lift ticket and rental equipment.
Another option offered during January at the resorts is the Learn to Ski/Ride 3-day Progression Package, which includes 3 days of lessons, lift tickets, rental equipment, and a “learn to turn guarantee.” Prices vary by location.
