A 7-year-old boy fell 60-feet off a chair yesterday at Sugar Bowl ski resort in California. The boy was a member of the Sugar Bowl Ski Team. He was riding the Lincoln Express chair with two other ski team boys when he fell at approximately 11:15am yesterday. The boy unfortunately landed on a bit on hard snow and bare ground causing major head trauma.
The boy was airlifted to Reno Renown Hospital where he underwent cranial surgery to relieve the pressure within his skull. The surgery wasn’t enough to save the boy and he perished in the hospital.
The boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the fall.
An inspector checked the chair the boy fell from and reported no malfunctions.
The boy’s name and home town have not been released.
Our condolences go out to the boy’s family and everyone at Sugar Bowl ski resort.
