La Laguna, Catedral.  Bariloche, Argentina.

Two days of storms left Catedral two feet deep with blower snow to the bottom of the mountain. At least that’s how the day started. By the time I left the mountain at 1pm, the sun and heat were already working the snow pretty hard.

Gondola laps were deep, soft, and just silly fun. I only had time for one lap in La Laguna, but I was the first and it was better than it’s been all season. Two feet deep, light, smooth, perfect

I only had time for one lap in Laguna as I had a bus for Las Leñas at 3:30pm yesterday, August 17, 2011. It killed me.

But, now, after a 24 hour bus ride debacle, I’m in Las Leñas the mountain here is covered in 3 feet of snow, the skies are clear, and there isn’t a breath of wind. Tomorrow is going to be something special.

Bariloche’s forecast is clear and warm for a week.  Las Leñas’ forecast is clear and cold for a week.

We’re really hoping our Las Leñas dreams come true. The only things that could go wrong are: wind stripping the mt., the Marte not opening, or both.
