The Gainer, running forward and doing a back flip. The take off; left then right then launch off the left foot… Conscious of the air particles and wind floating through the air almost like skydiving but without the chute… Watching the rock walls or the open space flying by me as i am rotating upside down to reach my destination of impact… My quote is “Hesitation leads to miscalculation“. I live by this…. I look at my target once or twice then a couple of practice runs, then off the cliff I fly…. This is a meditation of the heart and mind, combined with the art of flight…. We all want to fly and this is what I have found to be piece of mind… Breath in and feel nature running through my veins… We are one.
John “Eatamtn” Epsteyn is zen inspired mad man from Reno, NV. I met him in an airport in Taipei and we embarked on a mission in Thailand for fun and adventure. When not roaming the streets in search of a ping pong show, we found ourselves standing atop cliffs above the Gulf of Thailand, throwing gainers and popping off frames. We have worked together on many occasions striving to get that perfect Tahoe Gainer shot.

The Line of the Week is a weekly photo piece by Ryan Salm featuring some of Tahoe’s finest athletes doing whatever we deem rad.
