Lake Tahoe in the summer. It’s hot days, refreshing lake, traffic, road construction, the great outdoors! There are those days when you don’t want to leave your neighborhood. You can’t even imagine getting in the car and going anywhere. If there was only something to do nearby. Rylan Cordova lives in Olympic Valley. There is a flowing creek, a bike path, and there just so happens to be snow at Squaw on July 4th.

When you really think about it, people live in Tahoe for 3 reasons:  skiing, biking, and getting out on some water. On this 4th of July I decided to celebrate my independence day by leaving my car behind and enjoying the reasons why I live in Tahoe.

11 am (yeah, I also really like sleeping in). With skis and rafts loaded in the pack, I hop on the “Green Machine” for a great ride up the bike path to Squaw Valley USA. Just Pedal There, its better! Off with the flip flops, on with the boots, and on to the Cable Ca…….wait………the Funitel is open?!!!!  YES!  Thank you Squaw Valley for summer Siberia, to all the beautiful girls in red, white and blue bikinis and of course Chute 75 for glorious corn turns in July! Finally, I must go home.  Everything into the rafts! A little R&R float down the lazy Squaw Creek does the trick.  Ahhh, home at last, to bad I have to go to work tonight.  – Rylan Cordova

Cheers Everyone!  Get out there and have a great summer in the sun!

The Line of the Week is a weekly photo piece by Ryan Salm featuring some of Tahoe’s finest athletes doing whatever we deem rad. We will be using the term “Line” loosely to describe anything resembling chutes, big airs, pointers or any general madness. All images are the property and copyright of Ryan Salm Photography.
