These days everyone has a cell phone. Just about everyone has a smart phone too. I was a holdout and didn’t get one until last summer. At first it was confusing and seemed like it didn’t work half the time. Then I realized I had a lemon, sent it back, and got a new one. I don’t know anything about the iPhone, so I can’t make comparisons; however, I do know that the Droid 2 rocks most of the time.

The email function on the Droid 2 is terrific. I figured out how to forward my yahoo mail strait to my phone in about 5 minutes, which is pretty good for me. I get all my work emails when I am on the hill and on the road. It makes it possible for me to work from anywhere.

As far as other apps go I am not a big user. I like the Pandora app for rocking out to Dubstep while I am skiing and I  use the google maps app every time I get lost. (Too often.)

One of my favorite things about the Droid 2 is that it is durable. I am very hard on all my gear and this little fella has been through a lot of crashes and has gotten wet just about every day of its little life. After all that abuse it still works fine and the touch screen isn’t even scratched. For durability I give it at A+.

I have heard people complain that their smart phones are good as a computer, but terrible as a phone. I think the Droid 2 works well as a phone, but I do drop calls now and then and sometimes the touch screen calls a number I did not touch. Overall as a phone I would give it a B+.
