The Gondola and Chin
The Gondola and Chin

Today was absolutely beautiful at Stowe.  We finally got some bluebird skies and not much wind.  Even though the temps seemed cool at the bottom, there was a pretty big inversion going on, which made for warmer temps at the top.  The conditions were firm, but you still could get in an edge.  This made for some real fast groomer laps on the Gondi and Quad.  A lot of fun!  We hit a couple things in the woods where you could find some OK turns, but it was mostly hard pack with some dust-on-crust.  It kind of made it fun to “snake” through the woods at high speed.  We went over and did some laps through the Tyro Park and through the Pipe.  The jumps on Tyro are pretty fun and give you some pretty good air.  The last jump in Tyro is kind of a step-up / step-over jump that you need to haul ass into and makes for some good hang time.  The pipe was in great shape today as well.  The park crew cut the pipe last night and it came out pretty good.  Aside from the large groups of ski school kids rolling through, no one was really shredding the pipe, which was surprising.. All in all, good day with some great weather!  Temps are supposed to keep rising tonight, so tomorrow looks like another good one!
