We were greeted by a beautiful bluebird day today at Stowe. Unfortunately, the temps weren’t on our side and hovered right around Zero degrees all day. Luckily though there wasn’t much wind, which kept the temps feeling somewhat reasonable. Though it felt reasonable, it was still pretty damn cold. We saw one guy at the Gondola who obviously didn’t get the memo about the weather and was wearing shorts!?!?! (see pic). There was a pretty big line all day at the Gondola because of the temps, but once you got a few runs in and warmed up your body, sitting on the chair wasn’t bad at all. We did a few laps over on the Quad and were pleasantly surprised with the snow conditions.. very nice and chalky snow made for some great runs! We took a run down to the Superpipe to see how it rode. I have to say it’s in pretty good condition for only being open for a few days. I think once the pipe gets cut a few more times it will be money!
Also, there is a ton of stuff going on up at Stowe through the end of the month. We took a stroll through the village today and saw the Ice Sculpture contest. It’s pretty damn cool how these artists can carve amazing stuff out of ice. Tonight Stowe will have fireworks and a torch light parade which you’ll be able to watch from Spruce! Check it out if you have the chance!
