The weekend traffic is in full swing with lift lines at Gold Coast and Shirley. The snow that we received last week that was not groomed has been compressed into huge moguls. Terrain that was skied during the storm or just after still has some fluid lines running fall line. Other parts of the hill, where the “weekend mogul makers” set the paths, the skiing is slow, uneven and down right ugly. Today is Daylight Savings- so the hill will be slower to soften. You might want to think about bringing some carvers or GS/ DH boards for morning turns until the return of 6:00 sunrises. Here is the latest from Weather Geek SUNDAY MARCH 8 5:37 AM!..Strong winds are expected to develop this afternoon over the Sierra in advance of a cold low pressure system dropping down from the Gulf of Alaska over Washington and Oregon. The storm will be traveling mostly over land before it skirts Tahoe tonight and Monday, so its moisture potential will be limited. Still, while it will be tapping into less than a half inch of potential precipitation, the storm’s cold temperatures do mean that what little moisture it has might be converted to snow at a high rate. Depending on how quickly the storm moves through and how far south its core dips, Tahoe could see anything from a dusting to 3 to 6 inches of accumulation. Monday will be colder with continued strong winds of 40 to 50 mph as the low pressure system moves to the east. By Tuesday we should see a warming trend that will last the rest of the week. Next chance for precipitation after that will be the weekend.
