Climbing the stunning rocks of Wadi Rum.

WADI RUM, Jordan – The best thing about climbing is its ability to reach some remarkably cool places. I mean, that’s one of the big reasons why people do it, right? Wadi Rum, or the Valley of the Mood, is a stunning landscape of red rocks at the western edge of the Arabian Desert. If you’ve seen ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, ‘The Martian’, or a whole host of other movies, you’ve probably seen Wadi Rum. So it’s no surprise that filmmaker Lane Mathis chose to create a short film about first ascents in this incredible location.

After establishing a thousand foot free climb in Zion National Park, three climbers travel to Jordan in hopes of repeating their success on the big walls of Wadi Rum. What lies ahead is an adventure that exceeds their climbing expectations.
