ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colorado – May 18 is set to kick off Arapahoe Basin‘s annual Pride weekend party, dubbed “Gay Basin”, bringing live music, DJs, rail jams, and much more to the Colorado ski slopes.

The weekend officially kicks off with a Pride parade on skis and snowboards running from the Summit to the Black Mountain Lodge. That’s scheduled to begin at 10:30am on Saturday, bringing the party down to the Black Mountain Lodge for the rest of the party.

Between 11am and 2pm, live DJs will keep the energy high at the same lodge. Saturday will also host the rail jam, the details of which are yet to be released.

Sunday will bring in yet another Pride parade from the Summit to the Black Mountain lodge, once again beginning at 10:30am. The Black Mountain DJ will begin 30 minutes early and end an hour later on the 19th as well (10:30am-3pm).

A portion of proceeds from all draft beer sales throughout the weekend will be donated to Mountain Pride. Those who don’t ski or snowboard can still join in on the fun at the mid-mountain lodge with a $25 foot passenger ticket, and the PAD in Silverthorne is offering 50% off dorm rooms during GAY Basin (learn more here).

This is, of course, an opportunity to dress in your best Pride festival outfits, though it is not required. Arapahoe Basin just asks that you avoid the use of glitter on the mountain (glitter can easily wind up in the mountain’s watershed).
