In what could be a big step for the sport of wingsuit flying, Jarno Cordia has turned himself into a flying jet by attaching two small jet engines to his ankles.
Cordia is an expert wingsuit pilot with over 5,000 skydives, 4,000 wingsuit jumps and 400 BASE jumps to his name.
So how did it work? The 80-kilograms of thrust produced by the jet engines helped Cordia fly for nearly three minutes without losing altitude. In fact, he actually gained a few feet of altitude before deploying his parachute.
“It’s always been a dream taking my wingsuit flying a step further, by adding jet engines. Last week that dream finally became a reality, when I jumped from a hot air balloon with 80 kg thrust strapped to my legs with two Iron Man style Jet Boots.
These are the first baby steps in many more flights and bigger things to come!
A huge thanks to everyone who helped me make along the way, and to Visa Parvianen for being a huge inspiration and awesome friend!”
