Doug Chabot and Eric Knoff of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche CenterĀ investigate the scene of a fatal avalanche on Henderson Mountain outside Cooke City on December 11th 2016. The skier who triggered the avalanche was then caught and buried. He was found within 15 minutes but resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The slide dimensions were 250′ vertical, 3′ deep and 80-150′ wide. The slope was a terrain trap of trees.
