Homewood Mountain Closed After Early Morning Fire Burns Down Lodge

Homewood Mountain Resort will be closed today following a fire that broke out at the Tahoe ski area’s south lodge reports The Reno Gazette-Journal.

The blaze, which started at roughly 3am and whose source is unknown, engulfed the building and has since been categorized as a 2 alarm commercial fire. Nobody was injured or killed in the fire.

“The mountain will be on hold until further notice please continue to check back for any updates. We apologize for the inconvenience but our team is working hard to get our operations up as soon as possible.” – Homewood Mountain Resort

North Lake Fire Protection District, Truckee Fire Protection District, Squaw Valley Fire Department, Northstar Fire Department, South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and Lake Valley Fire Protection District all chipped in to help in the firefighting effort.

An update from the North Tahoe Fire Protection District Facebook page has indicated that the firefighters are currently working through the “knockdown stage.”
