Whether forecasting weather for expedition teams hoping to summit Mount Everest or giving weather forecasts for fire teams in the west, Tomer’s track record is one of the best in the business and his most recent winter outlook for the Tahoe basin has California rejoicing. This past week, Tomer gave his “Take” to the Tahoe Daily Tribune saying, “I’m forecasting for Lake Tahoe roughly 350-400 inches.” He went on to add that by the end of the winter, some areas of the Tahoe Basin could be between 5-8% above their average.

He went on to tell the Tahoe Daily Tribune that ski areas closer to the lake should see higher rates of accumulation– specifically Sierra-at-Tahoe, Heavenly, Northstar, and even Squaw. Tomer did disclose a certain amount of uncertainty for resorts south of the Lake saying, “I’m not confident with Kirkwood and down to Mammoth. Certainly the resorts tucked in close to the lake will do well and all the way up to Shasta and the Pacific Northwest.”
