After a group chaperone posted a photo of a baby bison in the back of an SUV, a couple tourists have become the subjects of countless articles criticizing their actions as stupid, ignorant, and insensitive to the surrounding habitat of Yellowstone National Park.

Since the accident, the father-son kept quiet– that is until now. In an interview on Good Morning America, the father and son explain that while their action might have been misplaced, their intentions were heartfelt. They have since paid a fine of $230 and gave a $500 donation to YNP.
