We have gotten word from an anonymous source that Squaw Valley is draining Cushing Pond and filling it in with stones and concrete. Our source believes that the area on which the pond sits will be needed for the base-to-base gondola terminal.

This will mean an end to the world famous Cushing Crossing, an event that Squaw Valley itself calls “the best event of the spring season.”

To be honest, we all should have picked up on this sooner since the official video hyping the new base-to-base gondola shows the terminal clearly sitting on top of the pond. It looks like KSL won’t stop until every last drop of fun is drained out of Squaw Valley.
