On Tuesday, a man broke into the “Stash” around 12:30PM MST and using a hammer, proceeded to steal over $11,000 dollars in product from the recreational marijuana dispensary.

According to the Cannabist, shop workers complied with the suspect. He was reported to have told shop works “Sorry, I’m just really desperate now.” Apparently May was friends with a few of the employees. They recognized the thief immediately.

According to a news release from the Aspen Police Department, “The shop staff complied with the suspect, who immediately fled on foot.”

After the robbery, police expected the suspect to turn himself in on Wednesday. When the culprit, who has been identified by police as 21-year old Hayden May fled the scene, Aspen Police released his name and issued a warrant for his arrest.
