WINTER COULD RETURN TO MANY AREAS THIS WEEK?

Powderchasers.com

Synopsis: This is the time of year when mother nature sneaks up on you just as you have put your boards and skis away for the season. Stevens Pass in WA reaped the rewards of a foot of powder yesterday.  The Cascades stay active for the next 7 days with the best odds of scoring some POW on Sunday morning and again next Thursday/Friday.   Snow will begin this afternoon in the Cascades with 4,000 foot snow levels and continue moderately until Midnight.  Convergence zones are possible in the north and central Cascades.  Areas from Stevens Passto Mount Baker could see 5-8 inches by Sunday morning (isolated heavier amounts).  Some of that snow will be falling during the day on Saturday.    Periods of lighter snow are possible in the extended forecast with a stronger system due for Thursday!

Next Week?

The Sierra get’s teased with some light snow Monday PM/Tuesday which migrates to the Wasatch by Tuesday night.  Moderate snowfall is likely over the highest peaks of the northern/central Wasatch late Tuesday and Wednesday (5-8) with SW flow.   Moisture moves into most of Western Montana Tuesday-Thursday (Central zones favored).  High snow levels will bring rain to most areas until cold air on Wednesday brings snow levels down to 5,000 feet where light to moderate snow will be falling in many areas of central and southern Montana.

LONG TERM POWDER?  KEEP READING!

The pattern is evolving for some heavy snowfall by next weekend.  Currently we anticipate moderate snow for the Cascades on Thursday which reaches the Sierra by next Saturday/Sunday (Moderate snow).   Snow should turn heavy in the Sierra by Sunday and continue into the following week (1-3 feet possible by the following Tuesday).

California Dreaming?  Heres a video that might get you ramped up for some powder that we filmed last week!

The Wasatch and Tetons will reap the rewards next Saturday-Monday with moderate or higher amounts likely?  Snow will reach most of Colorado by Sunday/Monday the following week

Enjoy the change of seasons!  Don’t hang the board up.  Might have to stick to the highest peaks for the best powder in the next week but moisture will certainly be on the increase in the week ahead.
