Loveland Pass, 9/25/2012

After some September dustings in the mountains in Colorado, I decided to drive up into Summit County to try and find some of the snow for myself. After visiting Copper Mountain, Keystone and Breckenridge, I ran into a pleasant surprise along Route 6 while at Arapahoe Basin as another September snow storm had rolled in. The snow was light and wet at first, but once I reached the top of Loveland Pass the white stuff really picked up and I can say that I am ready for winter now more than ever.

Breckenridge

From Copper I headed back East on I-70 to Breckenridge, where there was still some visible snow.

Keystone

From Breckenridge I headed down to Keystone, where the clouds were darkening and the weather was starting to turn.

Arapahoe Basin

From there I drove to A-Basin, where  the weather had changed. Snow had begun to fall all around the mountain.

Loveland Pass

After snapping some photos at A-Basin, I motored up Loveland Pass to check out the action at the summit and the snow was really coming down.

 Loveland Ski Area

After coming down from the pass, you could still see the snow swirling up above Loveland Ski Area, from the Loveland Valley Parking Lots.

It’s getting towards the end of September and with October and snow making on the horizon (Loveland starts tomorrow, 9/27/2012), the ski season is almost here. I even hear that Snowbird got a nice dump yesterday. Until then, pray for more snow!
