Closing day at Alta has always been a festive event ending with a big party on top of the “High Rustler”. This year was no different. Blustery winds and Cold temperatures did not discourage party goers. Everyone was dressed up, pumped up and ready to celebrate Alta’s closing.
Even though “Alta is a skiers’ mountain and “Snowboarding is not allowed” (see Alta’s trail map), The Alta Snowboarding Team was riding thirty deep and were greeted at the connection by a very nice smiling ski patrol man welcoming the Bird posse. So cool!
Once the lifts shut down everyone made their way out the High Traverse to the pinnacle party atop High Rus. Dressed up, backpacks filled with beverages and fireworks it was a great time to reminisce about the year and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Despite the cold temperature some gals were showing skin and some guys were too.
To do High Boy right you have to ski down “Alf’s High Rustler” after hours and hours of partying. Many of the party people choose the much easier route off the back, which is super lame. Sunday 4/15 was the first and biggest High Boy party of 2012. If you missed it you are bummed…. But wait, Alta will be open the next two weekends for skiing so you still have another opportunity to wear a whacked out costume and party on top of the mountain until the sun goes down. See you there he next two Sundays.
