pico ski area in Killington, Vermont

At around noon on Saturday the Summit Express chairlift derailed at Pico Ski Area in Killington Vermont.  120 people were evacuated from the chair.

The derailment occurred in the base terminal of the chairlift.  Ski patrol had a field day using their rope monkeying skills to pull all 120 passengers off the chair.  The evacuation took about 2 hours and we’re sure the patrol loved it.

No one was injured and the chair was reopened the next day after a few repairs and a state safety inspection.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.

Kinda scary, tho, huh?
