If you’re looking for a pretty wild volunteer opportunity this summer, look no further than Rocky Mountain National Park. The Colorado park is looking to fill two volunteer slots, one of which is a llama packing assistant.
As a llama packing assistant volunteer, you will help staff care for the park’s llamas. That includes feeding them and hiking with them in the backcountry. If you’re the type of person who enjoys challenging hikes and working with animals, this one is for you.
The second volunteer position is Custodial and Facilities Support. These volunteers will be tasked with driving across the park to collect recycling and trash from receptacles, bringing the items to park facilities for sorting or disposal. If you’re a big fan of stunnign drives, this would be a great opportunity for you.
Additionally, those who volunteer for the custodial and facilities support position can do so with a friend or partner, as the trash and recycling vehicles are driven in tandem. Those in both positions will work closely with staff on the RMNP custodial team.
The volunteer term for the llama packing assistant runs from June 1st through October 17th of 2026, while the term for the Custodial and Facilities Support runs from May 18th through October 31st. More information on volunteering is available here.
