Lake Louise, AB — Magical wildlife sighting from Lake Louise Ski Resort in Alberta, Canada where a British snowboarder on a birthday vacation had the privilege of sharing the slopes with one of the most elusive wildcats on the planet.
UK fitness and nutrition coach Matthew Nicholson was across the pond enjoying a holiday in the heart of the Canadian Rockies when a family of lynx popped out of the surrounding woods and trotted across an active ski trail using their oversized, furry paws (aka built-in snowshoes) to walk on top of the snow without sinking. Looks like the guests kept a respectable distance and took tons of pictures and videos to memorialize the incredible moment:
“You’re already having the best birthday trip ever and then this happens. We were snowboarding at Lake Louise, when we suddenly spotted wild Canadian lynx right on the slopes. Just casually strolling through like they owned the place. I already thought this trip couldn’t get any better and then we saw this. Safe to say this moment was the icing on the birthday cake and something I’ll never forget. Wild, unexpected, and pure magic.” -Matthew Nicholson
Far from the first time we have seen footage of lynx strolling around the incredible terrain of Lake Louise. The resort suggests they are a “powerful reminder that the wild still rules out here in Banff National Park” and guests who encounter lynx should soak in the magic from afar and let a staff member know if they are present:
