Sun Valley, Idaho — Sun Valley is having a memorable 90th anniversary season, thanks in part to the introduction of four new trails/glades.
This season, Sun Valley Resort is debuting four new runs/glades thanks to tree harvesting work over the past offseason. One of these runs is now known as Tim’s. This black diamond is named after Tim Silva, the Mountain Manager who has worked at the Idaho ski resort for over 35 years. Tim’s is located to the skier’s left of the Exhibition trail.
The other new runs/glades include Pioneer Bowl (black diamond), Bear Den (black diamond), and Sheep Camp (blue square). Pioneer Bowl is situated on the skier’s left of Sleeping Bear, while Bear Den and Sheep Camp are situated on the skier’s left of Olympic Lane. Over the past five years, Sun Valley has thinned out over 350 acres of trees, reducing wildfire risk and creating great skiing.
Other upgrades for the 2025-26 season include the introduction of RFID technology, a new family terrain park at Dollar Mountain, and the addition of ski school adult camps.
Future Plans
More changes are afoot for this coming offseason.
In an interview with Idaho Today on KTVB, Sun Valley GM and COO Pete Sonntag was interviewed about this season and what’s to come. This offseason, the plan is to replace the Lookout Express and Christmas chairlifts. In addition, snowmaking upgrades are planned. More details are to come.
